The Mr. Lacrosse and Mr. Goalie awards were first presented in 2010. The Ms. Lacrosse and Ms. Goalie honors were introduced in 2011. The goalie awards were renamed in recent years to honor Jake Anderson, a standout goaltender from Orono whose remarkable legacy lives on through the recognition of Minnesota’s top goalies.
Each year, only 10 senior finalists are selected for Mr. or Ms. Lacrosse and just 3 finalists for each Goalie award. A selection panel - comprised of high school coaches, officials, college coaches, and media members - evaluates nominees based on athletic performance, leadership, character, and impact on the game.
Being named a finalist is one of the highest honors in Minnesota high school lacrosse - an elite recognition reserved for the best of the best.
Winners will be announced at a special awards program on Sunday, June 15, at Storylink Studios in Maple Grove.
